2010 Portfolio Competition

E-mail Print PDF

The annual Portfolio competition was subject to healthy competition this year with a great number of entries with standards high throughout. It was especially pleasing to see some of our newer members putting in some great work.

This year's judge was Ken Bryan from Skye. Ken is a professional photographer of some 28 years and no stranger to the club. Ken announced that he would keep his comments brief and would try to advise rather than criticise and in this he succeeded. Any body entering got some free advice from a veteran photographer and if heeded will result in even more competitive club comps in future.

In the end their could only be two winners ; one for the print section which went to Glenn Collet for his set of mono portraits called "The Players". Glenn had a near faultless set of images with one in particular impressing the judge with his handling of black on black. Honours for the projected image  section went to Diane Morrison for her stunning set of Buckie Harbour. Every image was bold in it's composition and beautiful in their simplicity and although scores ran close throughout the competition this portfolio was, for me at least, the stand out portfolio of the evening.

We hopefully will have more of these photographers images on the web-site shortly.
