The finishing touch to Irene’s work, is in the careful selection of the correct paper to print the finished art work on. Irene showed us the full range of papers from her sponsor Permajet and how best to use the papers.
The workshop, entitled “Photoshop My Way”, left many with plenty to think about. Her use of the Photoshop layer options and blend modes, was surprising, in the simplicity of how she creates those award winning images. Many of her secrets where divulged during the workshop, including the use of air brushing, cloning and thinking like a judge.
A special thanks goes to the staff at Tiso’s and Corner on the Square for their help in making the day run so smoothly. Glen Campbell, of Lightstalkers Scotland also deserves a mention for the generous loan of his projector.
Monday evening brought about the long awaited presentation, called “Irene’s Images”. Ably assisted by her husband Gerry, a large audience, including some travelling to Inverness from neighbouring camera clubs’, sat spellbound while excellent photograph after excellent photograph was displayed. The photographs covered her previous years work and the use of texture and tone was second to none. The images shown were taken on the islands of Lewis and Harris , France and Spain . Oh, and what would an Irene Froy presentation be without a few poplar trees.
Irene’s enthusiasm for her work is infectious, coupled with a great sense of humour, insured that all those who attended the events had a great time.
I’d like to thank all those who attended for helping too make the events a great success. On behalf of the club and those who attend, I’d like to say a very special thank you to John Ross who organised these 2 events and without his input and drive, would not have happened. Also, a thank you to Mike Tibbs, Tony Grady and Gerald Davies for all their efforts.
Irene, thank you for taking the time to show us “Your way” of taking and processing stunning photographs and we look forward to seeing your work in competitions for a long time to come.
