Underwater Photography

I’d like to thank George for the very interesting presentation he gave on Wednesday night. George provided a very knowledgeable talk on the equipment he uses to dive as well as the wildlife and underwater environment surrounding the Scottish mainland and islands.

His presentation highlighted the wealth of underwater wildlife that surrounds Scotland. This included some strange looking and wonderfully coloured creatures. The talks were kept interesting by Georges deep knowledge of his subject and he provided many interesting snip bits of information to go with the colourful photographs being shown on the screen.

His wreck driving showed how enormous some of the German battle ships, sunk at Scapa flow were and the fear they would have imposed on any enemy facing these mighty ships. He also mentioned in his talk that he owned a Royal Navy submarine!!! Well, one that is permanently on the bottom of the Moray Firth. A video clip of his dive on HMS Tantivy can be found by clicking here.

I am left wondering if the camera housing he uses to take his photographs underwater would be of use for landscape photography during our wetter winter months.....
