Inverness Camera Club

Portfolio Competition 2009

E-mail Print PDF

Where do I start?

The standard of photography entered by club members was the highest I have seen. A wide range of images from forks to storks and everything in between proved for an entertaining evening.

Our guest judge Donald Fisher deserves full credit for working through nearly 200 images. Good humour, constructive comments and tips were the order of the night from the judge, which is always good to hear.

I’d like to name everybody who entered, but I did like these entries. Billy Gow's, Ruin in the Fain and Jim Sutherland’s, Macro.

Donald singled out several portfolios in each category from which to pick the winner.  In the printed images, these where -

Signs of spring by Derek McGinn,
Here come the girls by Mark Logan
Flying free by Glen Collett
Floral art by Mike Tibbs

The winner was selected from the following in the projected images -

Seed heads by Diane Morrison
Fall in New England by Tim Johnston
Bonds by Kita McIntosh
Hot roads by Ross Graham
Birds of Scotland by Derek McGinn

I’d like to congratulate the winners and these where

Printed – Mike Tibbs who wins the Elena May Trophy

and

Projected – Kita McIntosh who wins the June Trevail Trophy

Finally a quick reminder that the 2nd December is the hand in night for the set subject competition – Bridges.
