With a minor hiccup in this year’s schedule, club present Derek McGinn stepped in to fill the gap with his natural history presentation “From Sea to Summit”.
This presentation showed Derek's love of the natural world and included images of a wide variety of fauna and flora. These images have been collected over many years and hours of quietly sitting waiting for his subject.
The inclusion of images from the high plateaus of the Cairngorms allowed many of us less energetic individuals to view many rare flowers and birds which we would not otherwise see. Perhaps now we will be motivated to get out of our comfort zone?
Derek’s skill with the camera was clearly shown, with many excellent images throughout the presentation, with my favourite, the dippers with a beak full of fish - a rarely seen event in the natural world. His knowledge of all things wild is excellent and he kept us entertained with little anecdotes about his antics in capturing these wonderful images.
